We Expect It From Abbas, But Why Are Newseum and the Red Cross Honoring Palestinian Terrorists?

Note: It is now being reported that Newseum to ‘Re-Evaluate’ Hamas Honorees. Good. But the fact remains that the Newseum should never have considered honoring these Hamas terrorist propagandists in the first place.

There was a time that honoring Palestinian terrorists as the sole province of the Palestinians themselves.

The Hamas specialty was using children shows, where cartoonish characters took on the very uncartoonish  task of teaching kids to hate Israel and want to destroy it.

For its part, the Abbas regime was no less busy. Reports documented the way the Palestinian Authority honored Palestinian terrorists and incited hatred of Israel --

and the Red Cross Honoring Palestinian Terrorists?

Israel Behind The News came out with a number of  reports of Palestinian incitement of hatred of Israel during the latter part of 2009 leading into 2010:
Palestinian Media Watch also tracked the incitement of hate by Abbas and the PA.

In May 2011, Itamar Marcus presented on Capitol Hill his report, From Terrorists to Role Models: The Palestinian Authority’s Institutionalization of Incitement which reported on the Palestinian Authority policy of naming schools, streets, sporting events, summer camps and ceremonies after terrorists.

Since then, there have been more updates than reports. In an update last year, Strategic Affairs Ministry director-general Yossi Kuperwasser was quoted regarding the fact that 'Palestinian incitement continuing unabated':
The bottom line, Kuperwasser said, is that Palestinian incitement is “going on all the time,” adding that the phenomenon is “worrying and disturbing.” He said that at an institutional level the Palestinian Authority was continuously driving three messages home: that the Palestinians would eventually be the sole sovereign on all the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea; that Jews, especially those who live in Israel, were not really human beings but rather “the scum of mankind”; and that all tools were legitimate in the struggle against Israel and the Jews, though the specific tool used at one time or another depended on a cost-benefit analysis.
But now it appears that honoring Palestinian terrorists is becoming fashionable in the West.

The Newseum is honoring propagandists for the Hamas terrorist group:
The Newseum, a journalism museum and event venue in Washington, is honoring journalists who were killed on the job this past year in a ceremony on May 13, a plan first noticed by the conservative Weekly Standard. Two of those journalists, Hussam Salama and Mahmoud al-Kumi, are cameramen killed in Gaza in November who worked for Al-Aqsa Television, a Hamas-funded outlet, which itself has been designated a terror organization by the Treasury. The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies is scheduled to hold its event there later this year, but has become concerned about the Newseum’s choice to pay tribute to the cameramen. [emphasis added]
One might have thought that the Treasury Department had made it quite clear why Al-Aqsa is deemed a part of the Hamas terrorist group:
The U.S. Department of the Treasury today designated the Islamic National Bank (INB) of Gaza for being controlled by Hamas, a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, and for providing financial services to Hamas members and employees, including members of the organization's military wing. Treasury also today designated Al-Aqsa Television, a television station in Gaza financed and controlled by Hamas. Today's actions, taken pursuant to Executive Order 13224, freeze any assets INB or Al-Aqsa Television hold under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibit U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with these parties. Executive Order 13224 targets terrorists, terrorist organizations, persons owned or controlled by or acting for or on behalf of designated terrorists or terrorist organizations, and those providing financial, material, or technological support to designated terrorists or terrorist organizations, or for acts of terrorism.

...Al-Aqsa is a primary Hamas media outlet and airs programs and music videos designed to recruit children to become Hamas armed fighters and suicide bombers upon reaching adulthood.
None of this stopped the Newseum from deciding on honoring these 2 terrorist propagandists -- in fact David Gerstman at Legal Insurrection noticed a third unsavory character the Newseum has chosen to honor:
I just noticed another journalist honored by the Museum, Ali Abbas. Abbas, was an official of the SANA news agency in Syria. In other words he was a mouthpiece for Bashar Assad. The Newseum really needs to learn the difference between journalism and propaganda.
While the Newseum is honoring Palestinian "journalists", the phrase "veteran prisoner" is being used to cover up the fact that International Red Cross plants trees to honor Palestinian terrorists:
In a ceremony celebrating its 150th anniversary, the International Red Cross together with the Palestinian Red Crescent planted 150 trees bearing the names of "veteran prisoners." The Palestinian Authority uses the term "veteran prisoners" to refer to those who have been in jail the longest, and in most cases are serving life sentences for murder or multiple murders. Giorgio Ferrario, representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, participated in this ceremony honoring terrorists, which was named "My Honor is My Freedom."
Whether this kind of sloppiness is a passing fad or indicative of something else remains to be seen. Is it part of the growing problem of whitewashing Muslim terrorism?
